Tough Competition, Tough Markets Propel Use of In-Store Technologies

Retail Systems Research (RSR) gives an early look at survey responses to its upcoming annual Store Report. It appears retailers are biting the bullet this year, and budgeting to implement new in-store technologies as a way to grab the most wallet share they can in this challenging market. The technologies retailers are budgeting for the most include “Tools that empower employees on the sales floor,”—meaning they are looking for ways to free up employees for more value-added tasks—“ personal or self-service scanners, product info kiosks, or modern POS hardware and software.” See RSR’s article for details.

Technologies like mobile POS and receipt printing empower sales-floor employees, speed lines and please customers.
